Mourad Merzouki przekształcił uliczny hip-hop w formę sztuki prezentowaną na najważniejszych światowych scenach. Jeszcze w dzieciństwie praktykował sztuki walki i cyrk. Z tańcem, już jako nastolatek, spotkał się właśnie poprzez hip-hop. Hip-hop doprowadził go do innych stylów tańca współczesnego; pracował z takimi artystami jak: Maryse Delente, Jean-François Duroure czy Josef Nadj. Mourad Merzouki jest dyrektorem Centre Chorégraphique National de Créteil et du Val-de-Marne i Compagnie Kӓfig we Francji.

Jest także laureatem wielu nagród i odznaczeń. Otrzymał m.in: Medal Miasta Lionu (2013), Order Narodowy Legii Honorowej (2012), Order Sztuki i Literatury (Kawaler 2004,Oficer 2011), Nagroda Projektanci bez Granic (2008), Nowy Talent w Dziedzinie Choreografii – SACD (2006), Najlepszy Młody Choreograf Międzynarodowego Festiwalu Tańca w Wolfsburg w Niemczech (2004).

Znana na całym świecie Compagnie Kӓfig powstała w roku 1996 z inicjatywy choreografa Mourada Merzouki. Od tego czasu stworzyła 27 spektakli, zagranych w ponad 700 miastach. W ciągu 20 lat Compagnie Kӓfig zagrała z wielkim sukcesem 2800 przedstawień w 58 krajach dla ponad milionowej publiczności.

Compagnie Adrien M/ Claire B z Lionu, tworzona przez artystów Adrien Mondot i Claire Bardainne, działa w obszarze sztuki cyfrowej i performatywnej od 2004 roku. Ich kreacje obejmują zarówno przedstawienia teatralne jak i wystawy, w których, przy użyciu narzędzi technologii informacyjnej, łączą świat realny i wirtualny. W centrum ich poszukiwań artystycznych i technologicznych stoi zawsze ludzkie ciało. To była fascynacja od pierwszego wejrzenia: nie byłem w stanie odróżnić świata realnego od wirtualnego i od razu podjąłem decyzję, żeby wraz z nimi spróbować połączyć świat interaktywnych projekcji wideo z tańcem. Znalezienie balansu pomiędzy tańcem a abstrakcyjnym obrazem było ogromnym wyzwaniem. Ta praca odwróciła moje postrzeganie gestu i ruchu na scenie. „Mourad czuje doskonale nasz świat abstrakcyjnej grafiki. To z jego inspiracji stworzyliśmy nowe cyfrowe formy i animacje. Podobnie jak w malarstwie iluzjonistycznym staramy się zaburzać percepcję, tak by w pewnym momencie publiczność nie mogła się zorientować w tym co jest prawdziwe, a co prawdziwe nie jest. Chcemy by na scenie pojawiło się „niemożliwe": zmieniamy właściwości materii, burzymy siłę grawitacji, stwarzamy wrażenie trójwymiarowości. A refined performance by choreographer Mourad Merzouki and visual artists Adrien M /Claire B which has "enchanted the world" /France Culture Radio/. "Pixel" is a perfect marriage of art and technology. The dazzling multimedia projections fully harmonise with its dynamic choreography. An excellent interaction of dance with multimedia.
Mourad Merzoukihas transformed street hip-hop into a form of art presented on major world stages. In his childhood he practiced martial arts and circus. As a teenager, he started dancing hip hop, and through hip-hop he got to know other contemporary dance styles. He has worked withMaryse Delente, Jean-François Duroure and Josef Nadj. Mourad Merzouki is a managing director of the Centre Chorégraphique National de Créteil et du Val-de-Marne and Compagnie Kӓfigin France. He is also a laureate of many awards and prizes including the Medal of the City of Lyon (2013), the National Order of the Legion of Honour(2012), the Order of Arts and Letters (Chevalier 2004, Officier 2011), the 2008 Award Designers Without Borders, the New Choreography Talent Prize awarded by SACD (2006), the Best Young Choreographer award at the Wolfsburg International Dance Festival in Germany(2004).
The world famous Compagnie Kӓfig was established in 1996 at the initiative of choreographer Mourad Merzouki. Ever since, 27 plays have been created and shown in over 700 cities. Compagnie Adrien M / Claire Bfrom Lyon, created by artistsAdrien Mondot and Claire Bardainne, has dealt with digital and performative art since2004. Their creations include both drama shows and exhibitions where the real world meets the virtual world thanks to the use of IT tools. Human body has always been at the core of their artistic and technological quest. They adapt contemporary technologies so as to employ the language of visual expression to create poetic creations that go beyond time spaces.
"The Pixel project came to my mind when I first saw the works by Adrien Mondot and Claire Bardainne. That was a fascination at first sight: I could not tell the real from the virtual, and all at once I made my decision to try and combine the world of interactive video projections with dance, in cooperation with Adrien Mondot and Claire Bardainne. It was a huge challenge to find the right balance between dance and abstract images. The work reversed my perception of gesture and movement on the stage.
